Top 10 Places That Stole Jeff’s Heart
There’s something magical about travel. The sense of possibility, the way it forces you out of your comfort zone, the chance to see the world through a completely different lens… I’ve been hooked ever since my first big international trip. Through the years, I’ve been fortunate to explore some truly remarkable destinations, a handful of which hold a special place in my memories.
You’ll find plenty of “best travel destination” lists out there, but my list leans toward places with a mix of classic beauty, intriguing history, and a sprinkle of those unexpected elements that keep travel exciting.

Mazatlan’s Pacific ocean, sunny and dry climate, and vibrant culture stole Jeff’s heart, making it his perfect retirement home.
2. Gold Coast, Australia

One of Jeff’s all-time favorite destination! Think pristine beaches, lush green rainforests, friendly locals, and the bonus of speaking the language for easy exploring. Throw in the perk of doing a home exchange, making this exotic getaway surprisingly affordable, and it’s easy to see why the Gold Coast is a winner in his book.
3. Chania, Crete, Greece

The stunning Venetian harbor, winding streets, and legendary Cretan hospitality were like a warm embrace. Days were spent beach hopping, exploring ruins, or sailing to nearby islands. Plus, the seafood! Crete has so much to offer, it warrants many more visits.
4. Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands

Tenerife is where we retreat. Dependable weather, volcanic hiking, and just enough Spanish for me to bumble through make it feel familiar. Plus, the coastal paths are stunning. Both Jeff ad I love it there and we keep coming back year after year.
5. Gdansk, Poland

This meticulously restored city is an off-the-beaten-path treasure. From the colorful Old Town to easy day trips along the Baltic Coast, Gdansk was a delight. We visited during a European heatwave and were thrilled to find perfect weather! Poland’s affordability and delicious food add to its appeal. There is more to Poland than Krakow.
6. Lagos, Portugal

Gorgeous rock formations, a walkable town with tons of restaurants, and lazy days by the ocean equal my kind of relaxation. Lagos checks all the boxes. Even Jeff can admit that a little downtime by the sea can be nice every now and then.
7. Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
Sun and Budget-Friendly Fun: Sunny Beach is known for its beautiful beaches and lively atmosphere, perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying nightlife without breaking the bank.

8. Davos, Switzerland

Tranquil Escape with Outdoor Activities: Beyond its winter sports reputation, Davos offers breathtaking hiking trails, serene lakes, and a charming town center. It is also a great starting point for day trips around Switzerland.
9. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague felt like time traveling! The winding cobblestone streets, the towering Gothic spires… I could almost imagine merchants and knights bustling about centuries ago. Every corner had a story – Charles Bridge, the Astronomical Clock, the haunting beauty of the Jewish Quarter. And let’s not forget the beer! Sipping a Pilsner in a tavern felt like the most historically accurate way to unwind.
10. Bali, Indonesia

Jeff enjoyed Bali stunning beaches, lush rice terraces, and volcanic mountains. Jeff also liked Bali’s rich and unique culture, with beautiful temples, traditional dance performances, and intricate crafts.
